The Quirky Me

I was scratching my head for ideas to write about a few days back and there came along not one but two muses, the first being the ever smiling Hope and the second, a most peculiar chick called Atyllah :)

As for five sites Hope wanted me to list down, they would be those related to something which I really love...


It is in you, it is in me
All around and within
What would life be if
It were not surviving

Binding one and all
Seeing no cast or race
It describes life and
Rules this very space

Yes, I am talking about ART. These five sites are in their own way about art, though the form maybe different :

*deviantART : An awesome site for pictures of any and every kind. Many a time I was thrilled to find a picture that depicted exactly what I had on my mind when posting!

*Cool Toad : A cool site for music lovers. Most kinds of Indian music and quite a decent variety of Western tracks are available here for free download.

*Harry Potter - The Official Site : What can I say? I am a die-hard fan!

*Recipezaar : From a five minute quick snack to a seven-course meal, you can find any kind of recipe here!

*Sameera's Haven : I know I am being selfish here, but then this is my most favorite site since the past eight months! My Baby, whose frequent change of clothes have caused quite a bit of trouble for all your eyes but from now on I assure you it will not be so, thanks to this lovely personalized template darling Lena made for me!

Now to mention six quirky things about myself as per Atyllah :

*I am a night person, maybe being born at 0114 hours does have an impact!

*I either do things systematically or do nothing at all.

*I eat a lot when I am dull!

*I am not religious but I have firm belief in God.

*I rely on my intuition quite a lot cause it is almost always correct.

*I am obsessed with the color pink, guess that is very obvious!

I Hate, Still I Love

Here goes my first tag for the year, thanks to dear Noushy...

Love and Hate, two four-letter antonyms which go hand in hand. Both bring tears and pain, and both are so passionate. We are born to love and to love alone. Yet, sadly, as we grow up, hatred is inculcated in one form or the other, knowingly at times and otherwise. Love makes relationships and hence life, beautiful. Hate breaks them, driving us further and further into a whirlpool which is always seeking to swallow one into its never ending chasm. With so much of hatred around and at times within oneself, one forgets to love. Where is the time, ask many. Those who love and wear their heart on their sleeves are termed emotional fools, whereas those who cherish hatred within and keep silent are honored for being sensible! What kind of a world are we living in?

With that note, coming to what I hate and love...

I Hate

Bloodshed & violence
Excruciating silence

Cold misery, suffering
Thoughtless thinking

Big liars and cheaters
And all wife-beaters

Insensitive nomads
With pretentious fads

Hollow inner palisades
Grand outer arcades

All selfish braggers
And back stabbers

Guess that sums up what all I hate in this world. Now moving on...

I Love

True souls and nature
Both always a pleasure

Music and knowledge
Always gives an edge

Simplicity and reality
All charitable charity

Words and expressions
My many li'l possessions

Warmth and good vibes
Of this world's all tribes

Chocolates and babies
Will-bes not may-bes

Him for giving me this life
Them both for what I am today
Those friends who were there any and everyday
And him who taught that love comes again

All of them and much more I love, cause love any day conquers hate, not by sheer size alone, but by its simplicity and beauty. Cause we were born to love...

A Train Of Thought

Just realized that I have been writing only poetry since this year started! Hmmm...what do I write about now? Love? Or relationships? Or about the biting cold here in Dubai? Nah! New ideas do keep popping up now and then, but at work I am too lazy to pen them down, typing is much easier! Well, here goes a train of thought...

There is so much to life, so much than we can ever imagine. We learn as we grow and vice versa. As we tread on the path of life, many come and many go, but those who stay are just something out of the world. Something beyond the scope of logical explanation keeps us attached to that special sect of people, without whom life would be a lonely stretch of desert with no hopes of any oasis for miles together. To love unconditionally is so difficult but not impossible. Is it so hard to love someone for just who they are, without expecting them to change?

Those who have been through it all with you in spite of everything that went wrong between them and you are those who really know you and love you just for you. Just close your eyes for a moment and think who has been with you even when you did not want them or you did not think about them or did not really care much for them as they do for you? Do you have such a person/people in your life? If so, you are really one of the few lucky people in this world who knowingly or otherwise have it within them to touch the heart of others.

In today's fast and mechanical world, it is difficult to find someone genuine, let alone sensitive. Having a coordination of wavelength and a level of comfortable understanding is way far up the ladder in a relationship and when that exists with someone, what more could one need? Be it in love, friendship, family, at work or just about in any aspect of life, if you ever come across such people, keep them close to your heart, they are like shining stars amongst a cloudy night sky. Do not ever take them for granted, cause no relationship is.

If life has not blessed you with such people, might be it is because you did not recognize them yet or maybe that you never really showed the real you to anyone else. And if you feel that no one loves you for what you really are, it is alright. As the French writer Andre Gide said, It is better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not. Be true to yourself first, then to others. The rest, life will unravel on its own.
