Joy To The World

It's the festive season, the world is a hive of activity

Happy faces all around, blooming and smiling I see

Carols sung in earnest, gifts being wrapped to send

Joy and spirit in the air that nothing can transcend

Lights so bright, shining in glory for everyone around

A jingle here, a tinkle there, not a place is sans sound

Celsius dropping by the day does not quell the mood

Wafting from every window, smell of tantalizing food

Lost in the crowd there are souls who feel no mirth

Pain and suffering is all they have known on earth

No one has time for them, at least to bestow a smile

Looking for means to sustain, they walk many a mile

We give and give to those who already have enough

How much does it cost for kindness or a simple laugh?

Let's make someone's day today, even by a gesture small

We only stand to gain by sharing joy, be it a bit or all
