Writing is an art. Words can express, words can heal, words can soothe. Ah the magic of powerful words! We all have our own style. Every writer is unique in their own way. Blogging is a platform to portray my writing to the world. And a great platform it is indeed. I have met many people through this interface. Some have become very close on a personal front, few vanished, some come and go, but many have remained and become good friends with whom I interact on a regular basis via this platform. My blogger pals are from various parts of the world. We speak different languages, follow different faiths, but on this interface we follow one language. The language of the heart and the mind is the same universally.I have read somewhere, to be a good writer one should first be a good reader. Nothing more true. Once during my college days, when I had mentioned reading as a hobby to someone, they said, "Talk about something more active". Hello? If it had not been for all the reading I have done since my early years (read NOT academics), and still do, I don't think I would have developed my lingua franca or the way of putting down words. Reading goes a long way in developing one's writing skills. On contrary to what most people think, reading is not a passive process. Sometimes, it takes more effort to read than the effort that actually went into create a piece of writing. I had instituted an award last year in appreciation of my readers. As I said at that time, it takes great depth of mind to understand the true essence of what the writer wants to convey.
It is a nice feeling when people read your work, and even better when they take the effort to let you know their opinion about it. Not everyone takes out the time to do so. As much as I appreciate my readers and their views, at times it is very nettlesome that some just comment for the sake of commenting without having even read a word of the post. I am not pointing out anyone here. I know some posts of mine, especially poems, convey thoughts which are hard to unravel. But most of the time, I use simple language with a very clear message which conveys what the post is all about. I do not expect anyone to analyze my writing with a microscope and dissect i
t, because nobody could possibly have so much time. Still, there are many readers who add so much to my work by their wonderful and erudite opinions, for which I am ever grateful.I try to read and interpret the works of others in the best way I can. If I do not understand a post, I check the labels. If those do not help too, I ask the writer. If I do not have the time to read, I go back later. If I do not feel like commenting on a post, I simply do not. Or at least I comment on that part of the post I can relate to. However, some people just twist the whole meaning of a post, most of the time unintentionally, because they just scan through and then rush to comment, thus soiling the beauty of the emotions and vibes of its true substance. If such readers are one end of the spectrum, the other extreme are those who read too much in between the lines and see the whole thing in an entirely different light, and again end up changing the whole meaning of the post. Then there are some who just leave messages without having even bothered to touch upon a single point of the post in concern.
Sigh! Given the above, can you blame me for being a bit nettled right now? Everyone has a different point of view, and a right to express their opinion, which is so valuable. In fact, I wish many a time that someone would review my writing with a critical eye, as I intend to publish my works someday. But I cannot stand people who make a jest of my work with their careless, offhanded, irrelevant comments, even if it is not intentional. If you really read this post, you would know what I am trying to say. If you still do not get it, all I can say is :

You know I loved this post didnt you ?!
Just leaving for home. Ghar jaa kar aaramse likhungi.
muaah sweety.
You rock !
nice post :) i agree that a few ppl comment without reading the full post...it is irritating as it is almost like mocking you...i mean you put so much of effort into it and ppl just say something unrelated...sometimes i leave a :) as a comment...this is like saying i read the post and i liked it ...lol i am getting close to reading 100 blogs :)
a very gud intellegent and a very mature post. Not hurting anyone not specifying anyone I applaud for u on this.
The points u raised r really really worth to ponder on. I agree to u on all things u have said and the way u have put it on.
I'd like to say a thing here that is rather than reading half and reading parts its better not to read as its a real insult to the writer. Its like murdering the art.
Once agn a big hand 4 u
BTW:
I wud like 2 say I am not all abt fun I have sum serious blogs too. try reading them. If u wish.
Amazing one Sameera... Guess you penned some thoughts down that is shared by many writers around here...
I totally agree with you on the value of reading. It adds so much value to you as a person given you read proper stuff. yes, at times, it gives you ideas to write too.
*Or at least I comment on that part of the post I can relate to*
Thats a good one for those who refrain from commenting thinking you have to understand everything before writing something back.
Nice one mate... Love it...
take care.. Cheers..
Back !
:)
My comment is first ?!!...yay !!!!
Ok Now I Serious !
Girl you put it here in the best that way that it could have been done ! Bravo for that !
I agree with you on the poetry part girl. Poetry isnt everone's cuppa tea, and thats perfectly understandable, the whole beauty of a piece is lost...!
And that tends to become very painful for the author, who puts so much heart into his/her creration. I would advise ppl not to dissect a piece of poetry brutally like a poultry hen and rather leave it alone for good.
Like in your previous post - so many mistook it to be something else. I aint degrading anyone, neither am I challenging the coherence of the readers...just that if only you were alert n dint just skim thru....or so it seems from all the hillarious commenst you've made on a seemingly intense and sensitive post !
Infact if you dont wanna read it at all n had just come to say a hi or smth, do just that you know. I'd rather appreciate honesty and be glad about you being sincere rather than readin a stupid comment n then either smirking or getting agitated.
And girl like you said, always check labels...they tell you a lot about the post, n from there itself you can decide if you wanna go on ahead or chuck it altogether. And it will give you a clear idea about whats about to come.
Having said all that, sweety, I wanna say this again....this was a post every blogger needs to read and know. I have been in the blogdom since so long....sometimes it feels the genuinity blogging n boggers had is somehow vanishing into thin air.
Amazing work !!!
Love ya.
you know one good thing about reading is that it leaves so much to the readers imagination, many a times I enjoy when people imagine things which I never imagined when I wrote a piece..may be comments even irrelevant can be enjoyed at times.
Just a thought.
Haha, Good post.
But, like in every field, there are people who take blogging seriously, some take it as fun, some just want to make their presence, and some..... thus it goes. Each have a different idea, so as you said, the people who give irrelevant comments are either those who just want to make their presence available, or too busy or didn't understand the post, but want to put a comment for the sake of commenting.
you know sometimes when i read comments on my posts i wonder if they are really for my post because they just do not relate to any part of this.
This bloggers' policy - commenting for the sake of getting return comments is so much stupid, because then we miss the most important thing - true and honest, valuable feedback.
And thats really sad!
Good post dear :)
Cindy Babes,I knew you would love it,having undergone the same many a time.
"I'd rather appreciate honesty and be glad about you being sincere rather than reading a stupid comment n then either smirking or getting agitated" - well said girl!
Yes,it is much better to drop a simple HI than to do all that nonsense.
Forget poetry girl, that is a total different ballgame.
You have summed up this post so well dear.If anyone could not get the gist of this post, hope they do at least after reading your comment.
Glad you liked the way I put it across sweetie!Muaaaaaaah
sometimes its better to stay silent rather than saying some irrelevant crap (like i do :D)
Thanks Vishesh :)
It is very irritating indeed, considering the effort you put into it.I leave a smile or hello too, when I have nothing more to say.But I never smirk at anyone's writing.
Lol!My blogroll crossed 100 a few days back :P
and forgot to add this ur post rocks sami ..i spent more then half an hour to totally understand the internal meanin of it...thnks for the post...
urs..hemu..
***It is a nice feeling when people read your work, and even better when they take the effort to let you know their opinion
this is soo true sami.....i always love to put my opinion on ur writing...there a piece of art..
***I try to read and interpret the works of others in the best way I can.
this is the best way i love u ..ur comments give the heart to the writer so much they come with a splash of flowers on the face of the writer....
***Everyone has a different point of view, and a right to express their opinion, which is so valuable
thats soo true but the point given as comment should make the witer think the value of it for once in a while..
Thanks Priya dear.I am glad you got the essence of this post, and understood it so well.Very mature of you.
Will check out your other blogs when I have time ok :)
Thanks Arv :)
"Reading adds so much value to you as a person given you read proper stuff. yes, at times, it gives you ideas to write too" - could not put it better!
Ya,many people do not comment because they do not understand everything, which is not always possible for any of us.
Thanks buddy.Glad you loved it.Cheers!
I totally agree with you! And I very well know that you read and interpret each word. You know some of the great comments, in fact, most of my fav. comments from you. You give the perfect ending to my posts :) Love 'em :)
Some people just kill your write ups but either copying the poetry lines, saying they loved it. Or more, by redefining some part and showing as if they understood it all.
frankly i think writin is abt d pleasure of expression...yes we mite want other to pour in a few words but does it really matter if dey r vague n dnt make sense??
its individual perspective...n individual choice to read or not
I say :
To be a good writer a person has to say what hearts wants to say, no matter the narration is in simple words.
The best words are loved by most hearts and is understood by majority of people.
sameera,
u r just brilliant...
loved the opening... indeed words can do all that and more...i agree with u...
reading does go a long way in developing writing skills...and that goes for all sort of writes... esp. poetry because it sometimes is difficult for the reader to understand what the poet expresses...and an irrelevant comment does ruin the beauty of the post... i agree with cin in that respect...
i too have met quite a lot of blogger pals and blogging is indeed a way of portraying my talent as a writer to everyone...i do not mind getting no comments if the reader does not understand my work... even a small one like nice or beautiful or good one etc is enuf i feel...
i accept criticism too for the same reason as u do...!!
i did read the whole post and i stick with my opening sentence 100%...
keep writing...aurevoir...
Rambler,I really love it too when people "add" to the post using their creativity and imagination.
I was talking on the lines of mocking/smirking/thoughtless comments here.
Thanks Aneesh.I wonder why this post make you laugh though.
The reason for blogging is different, and it is none of my business as to why people blog and what they blog about.
I don't know the reason for people leaving such thoughtless comments, all I know that it is not right.
Lena dear,tell me about it!
It has happened once in a while with me too but some comments on my last post really nettled me a bit too much.
Commenting for the sake of getting comments - that sure might be a reason for such thoughtless comments.
Thanks sweetie :)
A golden point Div Babes!
Dumbi,you never do that.Umma :)
Hemanth,I am really glad my comments make you happy.Your comments make me smile too :)
Whether a comment adds to the worth of the post or not,it should not at least degrade it.
You spent half an hour reading this post?I am touched.
Thanks buddy.Cheers!
Thanks Sachi dear!I feel the same way about your comments too :)
I guess all that is fine sweetie, everyone does it to the best of their coherence. What irks me is how some just spoil the whole meaning or feel of a work by their thoughtless words.
Yes Hobo, that's true.A pity some people do not respect the sentiments of the writing at times though,no matter how heartfelt it is.
Yes Mayz, writing is such a beautiful way to express. And I write for myself first and foremost, because I enjoy it from the bottom of my heart.
"does it really matter if comments r vague n dnt make sense??" - It is not the question of being vague or sensible here. Some people just smirk at or mock a post, and that is something I cannot take sitting down.
"its individual perspective...n individual choice to read or not" - Mayz I think you have got me totally wrong here.I never talked about wanting to be read.If people read my posts,I am happy. If they take time out to comment, even better.
Instead of leaving thoughtless comments, they might as well not comment at all.Read Cindy's comment,it sums up this post.
Read before you comment - it is the base. Good that you write about this and you touched the point. It is better say only "Hi" if we connot read and write and come back soon.
Writing is an art
and definitelly you are art writer. I always celebrate my time reading your poems or posts. It is my best time and best lessons.
And I know that my poor English not let me to express my thoughts in more beautiful way..
Your words have the magical power
and touch the hearts, Sameera!
"The language of the heart and the mind is the same universally."
Very true! And Very beautiful said!
New template again?
It is good to looking for the best.
This is... VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Love it.
Take care and keep your art work!
You are great!
Hugsss!
Thanks Vinay!
Glad you understood what this post was all about.
I do not expect my readers to completely understand or analyze what I write, that is up to one's own perception.
I totally respect the views of my readers and appreciate the fact that they take the effort to comment, but some(I daresay newer ones)think that they can get away with their thoughtless words just like that.
A single hello or a smile indeed does a lot more than careless words thrown in for the sake of commenting.
I do intend to keep on writing,no matter what! And so should you :)
Thank you so much Krystyna dear!Your comments always have a touch of magic in them :)
I am so happy you like my writing. And who said your English is poor?No one is perfect sweetie. You are great in your own way and you know it!
Take care.God Bless You.Hugs!
P.S. Glad you liked this template,I love it too and enjoyed making it!I intend to keep this one for a longer time.
That was pretty straight forward of you.
But i dont see why people would comment without reading the post.
Drives me mad too.
Also, i forgot to add,
If a comment doesnt relate to the post, Dont publish it. That would send a clear message across and the commenter would think twice bfore doin so again.
Commenting just for the sake of counter comments, is not the right thing to do. Liked your post.
Glad you understand.
As for why people would leave thoughtless comments, beats me.
Irrelevant comments might be just made in a haste, but they should not mock the sentiments of the post.I wanted to reject those comments on my last post, but then thought against it cause it would come across as rude.
Thanks!
Sameera, I remember thinking I was going to read a huge TBR pile of books when I escaped from the humdrum of college textbooks. WOOT you found time to read during college. :D I loooooved the magic of fiction back then and still do.
Keep up the great writing. You'll become published. :D Catch an agent's eye and your career will blossom. Many agencies have blogs you can post a reply on. Might as well get started. You're ready, dear.
Hugs, JJ
Amen!
Well written and very well thought out. It is honest, concise and blunt.
Good girl.
Thanks for bringing it to light... but I cringe to think that the people to whom this message was intended probably won't read it, they'll skip to the end and leave a comment, as usual... and the very point of it all will have been missed.
Or maybe not... we can hope.
Scarlett & Viaggiatore
Thanks Scarlett dear!
Whether they read it or ignore it,I just had to let this out.Had been nettling me since the past couple of days.
As for those people,I know better than to publish their comments if they repeat it.
Guess the habit never dies Nancy, though these days I read a lot less when compared to school and college days!Need to work on that.
Thank you so much for the encouragement dear. Will start the process soon :)
Hugs!
hey sameera,
i know u r a poet... have read some of your poems long back but didn't comment thats all... they are very good...
so do sometimes comment on some of my poems too...if u like them...
askin bcoz unless i know if somethin wrong is there or not in the poem, cant become a better writer na...
criticism welcome :) hope u will help..!
thank you...
someone commented and was so right that one day you'll be a novelist.I totally agree after reading this.IT's just that you write so well and connect to the readers.Have to agree that most of the people don't read the post before commenting have had experienced tw0-three instances.
I don't know why they visit the blog in first place.I myself like to read all the comments on any post which i will be commenting on.it's normal ..na???.
I have seen a lotta people who do that!
I wouldn't mind if people read my post and leave with commenting upon it, but I hate people who don't read anything but just leave some nice comment about the post just so that I wud read their blog in return and comment on theirs.
good that u wrote a post about it, I hope people wud learn after reading this!
-I
oh wow, I've been so busy with trainings and all, I've missed so many of your wonderful entries, and hey, you have a new template too- which is by the way, so pretty!
I will come back later (yeah yeah when the kids are sleeping) and read them all ok?
I don know wt to say now....u scared me, don know wt u make outta it.
Just kiddin...I will still attempt it :)
I love blogger too...thought I a considerably new, thr r still so many ppl I feel so closely connected to...have never even met thm :)
*** to be a good writer one should first be a good reader...very true, not just to write well...but also to enhance ones thought process
And as far as you are concerned...I think whatever u write will sell like hot cakes...not just cuz I like the way u write but also cuz of ur sincerity...this post kinda says a lot bout tht...u put in so much effort in not just writin ur blog but also readin othr ppls blog and undrstnd the comments :)
Best of luck n wish u all the success in your endeavors
Can;t agree more.. very true.. *smiles*
Hi Sameera,
Don't be overly sensitive my dear friend. You will have your share of good reviews and nasty comments. Just shrug off the latter. That means you are well read by readers. If others leave a comment without even analyzing the content of your post, just leave it at that. At least they made a comment. You are bearing much fruit that is why you are having your share of the stone throwers. People will not throw stones at trees with no fruits. Just continue to write in your own style where you are comfortable. Never write to cater to the whims and caprices of some demanding readers. Someday, you will become a famous professional writer who would be appreciated around the world and you will reach that goal by trudging on inspite of harsh criticisms by some demanding critics. In life, we can never please everybody. Suffice it to say that you have touched the lives of many meaningful souls who believe in you. Let that winsome smile be on your face and keep your chin help up high. You are a very good writer. God bless you always my dear friend.
Thats a very well thought of post...I end up getting over a 100 comments in posts with most of them just saying "LOL" or "well written" and someone who works real hard at writing would know the pain of shallow acknowledgement.nicely put.
Scribblers Inc.
I couldnt agree more with Scarlett. And also couldnt agree more with you.
Lets just hope this makes a difference.
And also I'll complete my half finished sentence up there.
" agree with you on the poetry part girl. Poetry isnt everone's cuppa tea, and thats perfectly understandable,
but when you dont understand it, either plainly say that you didnt, or better yet leave it alone.
The way you dissect it, trynna aim n fire in the dark, it not the obliviousness of the reader not only becomes completely obvious but also,
the whole beauty of a piece is lost...!"
How you doing sweety ?
yeah...a big world....amny thoughts...one can't listen to all...heck sometimes one doesnt have the time to even hear all...
but those we can, enrich us, even if they are rude or crude :P
thanks for stopping by....will check out your other posts too... :)
Hello sweetie!
Irrelevant comments or crap pretty annoying since some people just commenting for the sake of getting return comments, but it's your blog, you really have the choice not to publish it especially with the comment moderation on. In fact,it's clearly stated that comments must be approved by you, those who leave thoughtless comments, would realise in the future that such remarks will not be entertained.
Anyhow, why would anyone not reading your post sweetie? You know that you write so good that pple just keep coming back to read yours..:)I know I do.
I rather just say 'Hi'or 'greetings' instead of commenting something that I'm not familiar with...especially on poems!
Muahhsss.Take care.
That is what I call a reality with no added salts and spices.... :)
simple yet powerful
Such a well written post, Sameera! You've expressed yourself beautifully.
And first off, to write, yes, you must "read, read, read" and then "write, write, write". Reading is the best way to learn how to write.
As for blogs and comments - hmm, tough territory but I think you're right in wanting throughtful comments on your posts - but I think one has to accept that blogosphere is but a reflection of the real world and so there will always be different responses to our words - and we might not like them all. You just keep doing what you do so well, do it because you love it and want to do it, and try not to worry too much about the nettlesomeness that sometimes comes with blogging (and life)! :-)
Big hugs to you.
Thanks Vinay for going through my poems.Sure will go through yours and comment when I find the time.Yes,constructive criticism always helps :)
No problem Mishra.Thanks,you too.
Hey Rajeev!Good to see you here after so long :)
Glad you liked this post buddy.
A nice comment is appreciated any day.As I said, unraveling the meaning of a post is up to the individual's ability. What I cannot take is those who mock or smirk at the sentiments expressed in a post.If you have time,go through the comments on my last post. The ones I am talking about will not be hard to miss, considering the replies I have given them!
and hey could i bribe u to read some of my poems?
www.catastrophonix.blogspot.com
Hello Mel,thanks for the thoughtful comment as always.
I know this post was more of a reaction, but some people really hurt the sentiments of my last post, even if unintentionally. It usually does not happen and even if I get annoyed,I just ignore them, but this time I failed to do so.I am grateful to those who take out time to comment, but that does not mean I can take people smirking at or mocking my posts.Hereon,I will be more sensible than to publish such comments,as some here have advised me to do.
I will continue to write,no matter what, and never will I write to suit anyone.I simply cannot bring myself to do that.
"Suffice it to say that you have touched the lives of many meaningful souls who believe in you" - yes that makes my writing worthwhile any day.
Thank you for your never ending support and encouragement, and for your heartfelt blessings my friend.Really means a lot to me.
God Bless You and your loved ones always.
Thanks Scribblers!
I do that too once in a while when I have nothing more to say for a funny post :P
I am not complaining about shallow acknowledgement.Be it a word or a long paragraph, feedback is always appreciated. But funny comments for a post filled with pain and emotions, that is something I can never take and that is what made me write this post.
Hey Div!I was kind of apprehensive of scaring my readers(read sensible ones)with this post, and I hope you really were not :P
I too have a very good connection with quite a few bloggers, cause in addition to their writing, they draw me towards them with their nature as a person. And I must say you are one of them :)
Thanks for your wishes dear, and for appreciating the effort I put into this space.Whether my writing sells like hot cakes or not,I hope it make a difference in its own way.
*Hugs*
i love it
Thats a very nice post.. there r times when ppl post things that have absolutely nothin to do with the post.. n I also agree with u that u need to be a good reader to be a good writer!! :)
Hey...thnkoooo shoooo much and ur welcome too :)
and yes..i have blogrolled u.. :)
Cheers!
Its an awesome post...meant for all of us who read n write..
I totally agree with u that often its much more difficult thing to read & grasp what has been written as compared to writing your thoughts out..
It is always my endeavour to understnd the thot behind someone's words & then comment on it...I dont know how much I suceed in it tho..m sure this post will help everyone here be more aware & receptive to the thots & emotions behind a post.. :)
Take care! Cheers!
Very well written, and true up to far extent.
Where hs my comment disappeared? :(
anyway..lovely post!
well..main to poora padhti hoon! (sheh..not playing the blame game..lol)
Yep..I don't want to point people in specific..bt its so true that some really don't read the whole thing..and end up nearly copying d stuff of some other prsn who hs commented!
nice post..
and you rock,babe.
PS_something for you up my blog..
made a collage ov blogger frnds..it even hs your pic..but sry,its nt that visible
love ya :)
Very true and brave post, Sameera. I applaud you for your standards.
I think blogs can feel like such a "casual" medium for some people. Like not much effort was put into the posts, merely because they're short or electronic or...whatever. Hence, they respond in an offhand manner.
But the truth is that writers look to make an impact and communicate some kind of personal truth in whatever medium they choose. Your poems and thoughts are lovely and full of warm depth. So yes, you should demand some kind of parallel response in turn.
We deserve it. :)
sameera, all I can say never let your creativity be judged by your readers....you write what your heart says..btw I also had a blog on which I used post my attempts at some serious prose(yeah, you won't believe) but stopped posting on that..coz anything they say gud or bad didn't really mattered ..only I know what that peice of writing matters to me..hopefully will get it published someday too!!!
I believe all creative ppl writers, painters, actors etc. should be selfish ..do what their heart says!!
Farah dear, you have not missed any posts,so no worries about that!
Read this one whenever you can.Glad you liked the template.I loved making it :)
Thanks Hope dear! :)
Thanks Vikram! :)
It happens now and then but it got a bit too much to take in the past few days.
"I don't know why they visit the blog in first place" - To get a return visit most of the time.
"I myself like to read all the comments on any post which i will be commenting on.it's normal ..na???" - Absolutely normal! In fact that shows a person's interest in the post.I do that too but never rely on them though, cause sometimes comments can be misleading.
I agree with Scarlett too Cindy dear!
"Lets just hope this makes a difference" - I hope the same too sweetie.
"but when you dont understand it, either plainly say that you didnt, or better yet leave it alone" - Exactly! That's the whole point here.
You said it girl!I am doing great :)
Muaaah
Hey Mystique!Welcome here :)
Maybe I listen too much but then I have never been the kind to take crap lying down.
As for bribing me to read poetry, you need not cause I love poetry! But then,no harm in knowing what's the bribe :P
Thank you so much Harsh! :)
well i can cook, and i can write nice comments...i give nice massages too...but i dont think tht wud work as a bribe...how abt a chocolate mousse...eh eh...
Thanks Nicky! It's great to have you here after so long :)
I don't expect thoughtful comments dear.As long as people care to comment in accordance with the context of the post, that is more than enough. It is the mocking ones which I cannot stand.
"I think one has to accept that blogosphere is but a reflection of the real world and so there will always be different responses to our words" - Agreed one hundred percent!
I will continue no matter what, cause I love writing! And I WILL keep your advice in mind sweetie.
Love & Hugs!
Hi Noushy sweetie!
I had enabled comment moderation only for extremely nasty or vulgar comments. But now on,will have to be more stringent I guess.
Awww how sweet of you to keep coming back here to read! You always make me smile with your comments. And as far as my poems are concerned, you really get what they convey :)
Thanks a lot dear for your thoughtfulness all along. You have been one of the very few people who have supported this space faithfully, even when I have not been able to visit your space for weeks together. And I highly appreciate that.Love you!Muaaaaaaaaaah
Welcome here K M F.
What did you love-Reading,writing,the post or this blog?
Thanks Arun!Glad you liked the post :)
Hey Div!You are always welcome dear :)
Thanks a lot Swati!I am glad you got exactly what I tried to convey :)
You have been visiting here only since the last post, but I do know you put in a lot of effort to read. And I appreciate that a lot!
Let's hope this post does make a difference.
Cheers!
Aayushi,I got no comment for it to have disappeared.Khair, yeh to mila.
No one here is playing any blame games either,we are all exchanging our views.Nice to see you read this post fully and thanks for that.
Maybe later one day I would come up with a post about reading and replying to comments as well.Lol!
Thanks for putting my pic in your collage girl.A pity I don't have Superman eyes to see it though.
Welcome here Tauqeer and thanks.
Thanks Rahul!
No ways am I relying on anyone to judge my creativity. However, feedback does matter to me,and if not for the encouragement I have received from so many here,I do not think I would have even thought about getting published.
I do believe you write good prose! Can I have a look at that blog,if it is still there that is?
As of being selfish I do not know. But to do what my heart says, yes I will continue to do that always :)
Thanks a lot Sarah dear!
It's indeed a sad fact that many people who are not bloggers think we bloggers are a waste of server space(one of my blogger friends was told this). But when someone is a blogger themselves, they should have better sense.
"But the truth is that writers look to make an impact and communicate some kind of personal truth in whatever medium they choose" - Golden lines there!
Expecting a parallel response is not always possible, even if we deserve it.But people should have more sense than to mock a piece of writing, especially when it does not contain even an iota of humor in it.It is such thoughtlessness which triggered me to write this post.
I am humbled that you think so well of my writing.Such words coming from a seasoned writer like you mean a lot!Thank you so much :)
Lol Mystique! Thanks for the options :P
I am tempted by the dessert, but nice comments seem more inviting to the state of my mind right now :)
Will check out your poetry soon!
i did scribble something three posts down
Oh ya!Forgot about it.Checking it out right away.Thanks :)
This is a candid and beautiful post.
Writing definitely is an art and you are skilled at that art. With your diction, you convey your message very well. I enjoy most of your posts, and particularly your poetry.
It's been lovely meeting you in this blogworld Sameera, and all the best with your publishing plans.:)
Thank you so much dear.
The feeling is absolutely mutual, and I hope we could meet when you come here sometime :)
Have a great trip.God Bless!
Well if we do magic when we write then I am always saying the wrong spell. :P As far as I am concerned don't care with the comments which ones don't deserve. I mean you are writing for yourself first of all.
Sahi kaha!
I think some people are fishing for comments in their own post and therefore, are READING for the sake of COMMENTING which is done for the sake of GETTING MORE COMMENTS.
I read somewhere in someone's post that one should not leave a comment if one does not understand the post or does not have an interest in the post. I say why not? That is my honest feedback. If I read the entire post, and still have nothing to say about it, I will tell the writer so! Its called constructive criticism.
I like all your posts, as many times as I have been here. I think they are quite profound and thought provoking. If people do not read the entire post, it is their loss.
Sameera tell me abt it, alot of ppl do that in my blog too. Maybe they r in a rush or dun wanna be bothered reading my long posts :)
but..I value them comin over and spending wuteva lil time they get in a day to say something to me and leave. It shows that still wanna know whats going on in my life..thats why they stop by.
But I agree...some moronic comments that dun relate to the post truly pisses me off. LOL!
*HUGS* ur a fantastic writer...and I READ ya.
Keshi.
Read before u comment is so true coz many write point blank or precise or just nothing but simple words which cannot classify or related to post.
Thats lot said, really a lot. I guess many bloggers go through this.
But my point is, even if you have a small percentile of regular viewers who dont comment for the sake of it, thats still a great job as a blogger.
Going by the number of comments and your blog layout and content, I can say its wonderful job.
Nice post
Sameera, I love how you started talking about reading and writing as your passion and putting your heart and soul into the writing. Then, you mentioned about commenting without even reading a word- I couldn't agree more. I think for some, commenting is an obligation, you go to their blog and comment there, they feel like it's a DUTY to do the same to you. I think, one should enjoy reading what other's have to write, only then they could write sincere comments. Anyway, not everyone feels the same way na? :) Talking about the same issue, just recently, I moderated a comment which says 'Farah, I am glad you had a great holiday in the USA' LOL now, isn't that obvious this person just went through the pics and then put that line down? LOL
I think you do have a passion for writing and I think you can go further with this special skill and talent! :)
I completely agree with you on everything you've said!
while there are some really genuine, honest, writers and readers, there are others who comment (probably) only for the sake of increasing their blog traffic. tis pathetic really.
and few others just repeat whhat others have said!
sigh.
bloggin sure comes with a hitch. tis all upto you to recognise your 'real', actual readers and honest commentors!
cheers!
Yes Farah, for some comments are an obligation and for others,it's a way to get back comments on their own blog. This is not really wrong 'cause how could we grow as a writer if we do not read and encourage others?I make it a point to visit all my readers(even those who do not visit me). It's basic courtesy.
Sincere comments are a different ballgame altogether. Not everyone has that much time and I don't expect them either. It's enough if people read the post and comment, instead of ridiculing it as some did in the last one.
Lol!It's so obvious that person never bothered to even see the pics(they say a pic is worth a thousand words),let alone read your post :P
Yes,I am passionate about writing and I do intend to go ahead with it,come what may.
Thanks dear :)
Thanks Sneha!
Yeah, many people do that.I don't mind if they do that here though,as long as they really read my posts :P
Constructive criticism is very much appreciated. It's true not all can relate to every post.People have their own likes and dislikes.
Glad you like my posts and I appreciate that you take the time to really read them :)
Hey Priya!Welcome back :)
Yes,many do that and that's annoying.
Yes Jeeves,it's the plight of many writers out here.
I totally agree with the point you have laid out.I am lucky in that aspect because I do have quite a number of sincere readers :)
Thank you so much!
Yeah Keshi, many people get put off by the length of long posts.I know it's time consuming but if one comments on them,it's their responsibility to read it.Or else they are welcome to stay silent.
"I value them comin over and spending wuteva lil time they get in a day to say something to me and leave" - exactly my sentiments! But the ones who really had me nettled were newer readers.Their comments were not just moronic, but pf a mocking nature as well.
Thanks dearie.So are you.And when I read you,I really READ you :)
*Hugs*
Hey Stephen!Happy Birthday :)
Come on,you are not that bad at writing!I do agree we write for ourselves primarily. But if we comment,we have to first read and not just take a blind shot in the dark.
Thanks Busy Writer!
It is indeed pathetic and all writers must take a stand against it.
Nothing in life is without a hitch for that matter. And yes,I do know a good reader when I see one :)
Cheers!
Absolutely agree with you! The thought is so genuine and yet people fail to understand why. It is so important for the reader to get into the writer's mood, flair and diction to have full command over what the writer is trying to portray!
Hats off to you! :)
You said it there. Thanks girl! :)
And to think some thoughtless people just make a mockery of that portrayal. No way should we allow that.
I agree, they should READ before makiing comments. As u already know, this issue has pissed me off big time in the past lol!
**Their comments were not just moronic, but pf a mocking nature as well.
omg tell me abt it, I hv lots of em in my blog! Its like they want me to write what they expect to see in my blog. ppl love to lmock my feelings too but now I mock em back :)
Show em the door Sameera.
Keshi.
post ur mail id I will send you an invitation.
Thanks Rahul. The id is on my blogger profile :)
I know Keshi dear! But I am wiser now,and am not going to publish such comments. That's the best thing to do.
Take care sweetie.Hugsssss :)
Sameera, yeah true. not everyone has the time, but it's nice to give them a little time when they spent time reading what we have to say. :)
Yes dear,it is indeed :)
Exactly!You said it all there.
That feeling of going through old posts is so great. It really shows how far you have come as a person as well as a writer :)
He he,nice of you to come back and write it all over again. And I am replying to it now only. So,goodnight! :P
My above comment was for HIGHWAY No 57. :)
Thanks for ur comment , though I won't rate my latest very highly ever.
Er, yes I have read this post here, and I think you could have done a scintilla better here.
Tc .
Yes I could have done much better with the story. And it would have been less confusing if you had commented there! :P
hahaha
I know I fall into the jerk category :P
agreed...I can make out too who reads - understands - comprehends and then comments...
I might never understand your posts- for a simple reason I really dont know English :)
and I have to add to this "to be a good writer one should first be a good reader" well in todays time and speed at which we are living you should also add.... good listener and good browser :)
You don't understand English!Good joke :P
Pata hai,the saddest part about this post is that the ones who it was about didn't read it and if they did, didn't get what it conveys!
I always like these inputs of yours on my posts. Thanks for that :)
Are I am not joking - I use a translator ;)
and like you said...that for whom it is never read..I have the same feeling for certain posts when we have discussion on certain topics...most ppl contributing are agreeing to one another - and isnt that the wrong audience if you want to have a good debate
Ya ya you do :D
Hmmm I know. Most of the time,it's out of fear of breaking goodwill.Debate?Cool!Start one sometime :)
