An Evening In The Dunes

Few weeks back, I went on a Desert Safari. It was one fun-filled evening! Here are some pictures I clicked, with a bit of poetry added to each :)

The dunes lay so calm and inviting
Ever mysterious and so beckoning
Come lose yourself in us, they say
Serenity lending the mind astray

A roller coaster ride in these sands
Simply thrilling, so full of romance
Relying on the skills of of one man
Bashing with the grace of a swan

These lines etched on these dunes
Could they be some kind of runes?
Wonder what message they give
What magical stories they weave

As the sun retires once more
In his mighty majestic galore
These dunes give him a salute
The wind joining in on its flute

Over the edge, life grows on
Stretching so far and beyond
Many have come and will go
To be lost in this moment so

A fleeting glimpse of an oasis
For the eyes it's such a bliss
Pity this picture is such a blur
Taken as we rushed past here

An ancient well at the camp entrance
Though modern it makes much sense
Many a thirst it must have quenched
Seeing off weary travelers refreshed

Decked up so gaily, a lovely sight
Daily taking many visitors for a ride
You are so naughty, are not you?
Scaring amateurs who mount you!

Enthralling people with her grace
She sends many a man into a haze
Doing her act, intoxicating many
The exotic belly dancer "Nany"

Playing with fire everyday
That's how he gets his pay
His acts draw such applause
Mighty, bold and marvelous

The dunes sleeping in the lap of night
The moon guarding them in its light
Weary and happy we then bid adieu
Thanking nature for her marvels anew

I personally have never been to such lands.Would like to someday. Thanks for putting these up here.

Drawing parallels between the sand dunes and the Ideal human being is easy, the way I see it- both are not expected to get stuck up somewhere and both are immortal, just that you lose the sight of them sometimes. However, the idea/memories remains there forever.Meaningful lines that follow those pictures.

Pleasure to be here.

Hi Sameera,
Thanks for appreciating the award I gave you. The sand dunes are more fitting to Dubai than their winter resort complex. Your romantic and literary inclinations surfaced on your trip to those sand dunes. I really appreciate the poetic captions on the pictures. They speak so much of your literary proficiency especially in poetry. Thanks for the post. God bless you always my wonderful friend.

in isolation, as an outsider, we see life all over the land. we observe ourselves running on busy streets in enchanted cities, and we find us missing the bigger world. but in reality we are there, when each of the others eye see it such. and they share.
