Recently, I read the novel A Walk To Remember. The simplicity of the love story and the message it conveys is so moving. Miracles do happen, at times when least
expected. When something is wished for from the innermost depths of the heart, God surely listens. We never realize how much we tend to move away from life in the day-to-day struggle to survive and make ends meet. Frustration and lack of faith make one helpless and pushes them towards what they never intended to or never wanted to be. When faith is lost, a part of the soul is lost.
Someone wisely said that God gives us troubles according to how much we can bear. Some people can bear it all(or most of it at least) with a smile, while some set the house on fire for almost nothing at all. It's all well to crib and rant about what went wrong, but if things go wrong, deep down all know that they had been wrong somewhere. Just that most of us do not want to accept that fact. People have no time to smile themselves, let alone making another smile. At the end of the day, it's all about the money, all about the sex and all about the ego.
What has become of natural beauty, simplicity of the mind and generosity of the heart? Are they worth nothing at all? Even if they are, very few are left to cherish them and even fewer who actually have them. Disillusionment in life is not uncommon, but that does not mean one let's that disillusionment become life itself. There is so much to do, so many places to go, so much to know, and so much to learn. As Jamie Sullivan said in the novel, we all have a purpose in life. The thing is, do we know what we are meant to do?

i do know... and i know you know and i know many people who know too.. you know i will quote one of my good friends here "i think the legacies that people ve forgotten in these modern times are still there safe in some people of the world..." And until there are such people who are not afraid to talk about it, the world will be safe... as much as we can do..
it is a great article dear, i loved it! :)
take good care, sweetu,
love you!
Me first !!!!
Sweetie, I dont really beolieve in God all that much, all though I aint an atheist. But I feel, we all have a destined life to live, and whats been written once has to become. Nothing can change it. No prayer, no tears, no fire..none at all. And thats where even God's power ceases to exist.
I deeply abide by he believe that, we all are here for a purpose, and until that is served nothing can take our life away. I think it aint that difficult knwoing what we are meant to do. For me, what I am doing this very minute was what what I was destined for, and what I was meant to be doing at this frame of time. As simple as that.
Its better to take life as it is, that wondering about a life buried in the coming tomoro which maynt just come at all...
Fabulous post...as usual !
Great post - and its firday so thoughts will come out :)
See if we knew our purpose then the spirit of life will be lost - we will become mechanical and just be goal oriented - in the process become more atrocious and negative - knowing the purpose will also mean knowing the time that it has to be completed in - that will make us sad and dejected...
enigma and spontaneity is what keeps us bubbling and on the edge....true that some are disillusioned - but think in terms of the masses - not everyone is lucky like us ( i say lucky as we have the power to express and think) - for some getting that simple thing in life - some money, maybe a little love (not necessarily sex) will help them...they have no life to move away from....
again friend this is not a criticism - its just something I want to share because I have gone thru similar thought patterns learnt that thinking that there is something called Disillusionment also is a kind of ego....
thanks you did make my brain tick on friday - happy weekend
Great posting!
Surely there is a reason why we've been created to be here now...the purpose of life.Like you said,I do believe sometimes God is testing us through good or bad times, to see how grateful we are to the Creator when ups,and when downs do we still seek his help or start cursing or blaming...
With a clear and meaningful purpose in life will come the motivation and the energy to follow that purpose...Our highest and best purpose is ready to be lived.
Have a gr8 weekend my dear.Take care.
Muahhss.
//do we know what we are meant to do//
that is the suspense, secret and success of the life.
Isnt there a movie after that book too? Seems like a beautiful story.
Abt God...I used to believe in Him..not anymore...I dunno, from time to time, I feel so confused abt God.
*HUGZ*
Keshi.
i havent read "a walk to remember" but ive seen the movie and its just so beautifully touching!!
i loved how your post moves towards an important question that we might ask ourselves pretty often but never come up with an answer.
:)
I still think its existent in all of us.. just that we stopped giving it importance..each one of us one time or the other have felt the simple innocent love in our life.
hey cool blog... Interested in a link exchange??? My blog url is
http://bestinfotainment.blogspot.com
lovely reading this post & your thoughts...Wish U a Happy Holi. May this Holi brings a lot of joy and happiness in our life & Wish that your life becomes colorful as the colors of Holi..
I am a bit too busy with my work now, which will continue, so couldn't visit your blog for sometime...anyway, I will check your other posts later whenever I will get the break.
Hi Sameera,
You are right in all your observations. Sometimes we are left with a choice of going along with everybody else or making a stand for what we believe in. It is so easy to go with the current but the problem is, do we know where the current will lead us? It might lead us to destruction if we are not careful. As the saying goes, it is better to light a single candle than to curse the whole darkness.
You are one of the few people still with scrupples intact. Don't let the rage of conformism twist those scrupples. Be a torch bearer not a thrill seeker. At the end of the day, it is the contribution we made to society that will be remembered and appreciated not the additonal mess we contributed to the world. Thanks for the reflective post my beautiful friend. God bless you and
your loved ones always. Happy Easter to you all.
well, being an agnostic does help at times..we have little time to sit back and reflect on our purpose and if and when we do,to identify it.
after finishing the novel didn't know whether to feel happy or sad. :(
p.s:am here from cindrella's..liked what I saw
nice it is...
hey, Happy holi :)
fab post. i thought of the same a lot until about a month ago until i decided i'm gonna just jump the ship and start doing what i'm passionate about. life would take its course. and it's happening so now. life will define its purpose itself ... i live in the moment now with no expectations ... enjoying what i am doing ... focusing on what i feel passionate about, and as the cliche goes ... life goes on. :)
glad to be here.
roop
I was just having a conversation with a friend which is related to your first paragraph..and now Keshi also has a similar post up!
i havent read the book but i have watched the movie... and while i felt that the actors and the director could have done a better job, the story really touched a chord... i loved the lines "our love is like the wind. you cant see it. but its all around me" from the movie... lovely post... :)
nice one, sameera. the changes happening to the values which hold dear by generations is alarming, but sort of inevitable in todays world. wnt to rant more but my grey cells r on a strike...
oh sameera, this is so true! i wonder about such things a lot! i can't tell you how many times frustration and lack of faith has ruled me. and when somehting good happens, i spend far too much time worrying about what bad thing will ruin it as well. i wonder if its true that we are given what we are capable of handling. it seems so damn unfair regardless. and i still wonder why im here, i have no idea what mu purpose is......excellent post!
Great post. Loved it.
Have a nice time.
Cheers :-)
i hevnt read the bok yet... true frustain has overruled me many a times but i guess m over all that now... noce post..
cheerz
Unfortunately I don't believe in miracles.
As Jamie Sullivan said in the novel, we all have a purpose in life. The thing is, do we know what we are meant to do?
no, we don't. thats why i feel life is a chase. we chase the future, and try to find our purpose in life. guess many leave this world without getting an answer to it. will i find the purpose of my life? its still an open question.
ammu.
Very nice write up..*smiles*
god???
m more of an agnostic i gues.s....

We never realize how much we tend to move away from life in the day-to-day struggle to survive and make ends meet.
This is true... One thing.. life is hard but it's depend on how we make our life happening!
;D

Hi Sameera,
Your post left me in deep thoguht....My only purpose in life right now is to study (a bit) and enjoy childhood but I don;t know...I'm wrong or right...I know I'll be thinking abt this all night now! :P
all of it is so very true:)
a fabulous post that kept me thinking and recalled the things that i already knew but somehow tend to forget them.
i havent read ' a walk...' though have heard all good things about the book and intend to read it for sure.
hmm nice one.. :) keep writng
where r ya? :(
Keshi.
Thanks for an interesting post :)
Agree with some of the posters above – I think you can only plan life to an extent. Half the pleasure is the unknown coupled with the knowledge that things always change. Especially if we take steps towards the things we want. We attract what we need when our minds are open but focused.
Take care,
MD
Your own words belie your own comment - "At the end of the day, it's all about the money, all about the sex and all about the ego" as do the words of others just like you.
So long as there is you and others like you, then there is hope and joy and soulfulness - and there is considerably more than just money, sex and ego.
Lovely post, Sameera.
Hugs.

I make the 50th annotation and you the 51st!!! Is the movie of the same name the remake of the book....

Well said Lena sweetu!Thanks dear.Love ya loads.Hugsss :)
Oh Cindy darling, you missed it by a few minutes!
Whether one believes in Him or not,we all lead that destined life which someone above all of us has laid down for us.God's power is something much more powerful than anything on this earth and miracles do happen when faith is strong.Of course though, taking life as it comes is a good way out cause tomorrow is unseen and unpredictable as you said!
Thanks dear.Love ya!Hugsss
