Tomorrow Is Another Day!

It's New Year's Eve and here we all wait in anticipation of the start to a brand new saga of 365 days, in the hope that it will be a harbinger of better times to come, in every way possible. People make resolutions and they attempt to stick to them, initially with amazing sincerity and then slackening as the year rolls by and then again resolving the same, maybe a bit improvised, in the coming year.

But why is it that many need a new calendar to keep life on track? Are the rest of the days not substantial then? To laugh, to love, to live, to be better humans, must it all start only on the 1st of January? If things did not turn out the way they were expected to, might it not have been due to some fault of ours deep within? Instead of blaming circumstances and people, why not just take out some time to scan oneself?

Every day of this gift of life is another chance given by God to pick up the pieces and rearrange them in a more satisfying way. This last day of yet another fading year is when the events of the bygone 364 days flash in the mind and make one determined than ever to get a better life for themselves, and in some cases, to get a life itself. What do you see in your mind's eye today - a fruitful or a not-that-great or a not-at-all-worth-remembering 2007?

If the year was not one of the most memorable ever, just make the next year a better one, not by making resolutions or by keeping planners or by taking vows, but by changing the
outlook or in other words, perspective on life and life itself. Not easy as it sounds, but then, good things never come easy, do they? Life is how we make it to be and here's to making the days to come fulfilling to the maximum. Cheers!

Wish you all a wonderful turn-of-year! God Bless

An Eighth Thoughtful Thought

ZWANI.com - The place for myspace comments, glitters, graphics, backgrounds and codes

Out of this world you might be, but forever in my heart you remain
I know you are beside me in every step I take in this journey of life;
Anguish of your loss could never cease to prevail, still I am strong
'Cause I came from you, who taught me not to be broken by strife.

Man-made, But Magic Still :)

Though I have been in Dubai for almost five months, I am yet to experience many of its multifaceted wonders. Went to Ski Dubai on UAE Day. It is one of the most famous man-made snow parks in the world, located in the Mall of the Emirates. Having lived in a near tropical climate whole life, this was something new and amazing for me! Thought will share it with you all...

After donning on the warm gear and boots, we all tramped into the Snow Park like an excited bunch of kids!

A site map at the entrance

He reminded me of Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback in one of the Harry Potter books (except that Norbert did not change color constantly!)

What lies ahead within the dark, snowy maze?

Lo! It's Mr.Penguin - pity could not set him and his counterparts free!

Guess that's his icy cousin toasting on the bar of the ice cafe in the park :)

A chocolate case made of ice, makes the chocs look more tempting! Took the old uncle by surprise when clicking the goodies, he didn't mind though :)

Wonder what stories they have to tell as they change color by the second?

That's the bob slide run, seemed scary but was so much fun; wanted to go again & again!

Slope of another thrilling ride - only thing that can happen if one gets thrown out of the slope when sliding down is to land on a table of the adjoining restaurant ;)

The ski slope - will take lessons and attempt it someday!

At a temperature of -3C, cannot blame the camera for feeling cold too!

An icy teddy wishing everyone in true Christmas spirit :)

Losing all track of time, we had a hilarious time and were transported back into childhood. Can't remember the last time I had so much fun and laughed like crazy and did all sorts of silly little things.

Everyone needs a pep-up once in a while and this was mine! Till next time, keep the faith :)

To Err Is Human, To Forgive Is Divine

Freedom is everyone's right. Almost all people worldwide are lucky to be able to speak out their heart without fear of being arrested or executed. Pity some still have to live in fear that their each and every word is weighed and tested. The ongoing protests about the act of a British school teacher in Sudan is such an example. Read about it here. She may have hurt sentiments of Muslims worldwide, but is it such a great crime that the people there started demanding her execution? I am not saying what she did was right, but are there not much more serious and cruel crimes occurring everywhere, like murder, bomb blasts, robbery, rape, child abuse and the works, that this issue had to be dragged across the globe?

The government of the country in question is still uncertain about taking an assertive decision about this matter, in spite of pleas from other nations to pardon her once her ongoing 15 days imprisonment is complete. This issue has raised serious questions about the prospects of working in non-secular countries. True she should not have let her pupils name a teddy bear after an Islamic prophet, but does that require her to be sentenced to death? Known or unknown to all, there are innumerable such remarks about other religions being passed on everyday which go unnoticed and unquestioned. Communal riots and holy wars are still rampant, causing many an innocent to suffer. The magnitude of her offense is so small when compared to these.

Everyone commits mistakes, cause nobody is perfect. Doesn't every faith advocate forgiveness on repentance? Why is it that so many are bent on taking her life for a verbal offense of allowing few children to pick a name they liked. The reasons for the children picking that particular name is what matters, and in the end it seems to be an innocent mistake. Makes me wonder where is justice and fairness in this world where dangerous criminals are left scott-free and the unfortunate deed of a school teacher is being thus ripped apart and examined under the critical microscope of the global eye.

On a lighter note...

Time flies and life just rolls on, and another December is here. I have always loved this month, it simply has a magical feel to it. Maybe it is the festive season or the cold or the anticipation of the New Year as each day passes by.

Whatever the reason, there is magic in the air! Have a magical month everyone :)
