Lifestyle and trends have been changing over times but these days one's social life is considered non-existent if one ain't "happening".So what do the young people of generation-x do???Just get into the mad never-ending circle of so-called "hep" and "trendy" activities;smoking, boozing, clubbing to name a few.I don't wanna sound like a saint trying to advocate any doctrines here, just my observation of what goes on in discs/pubs in our metros. The word "Discotheque" has evolved and acquired a whole new meaning. It's a place not to only dance(as is actually intended for),but for people to smoke, booze till they drop,to try to get a "date",and to make out. It's all well to go there to have some healthy fun, unwind after a hectic week and let one's hair down, but the generation these days let down much more than that. It's sad to see teenagers slinkily dressed, drowning themselves in alcohol and breathing in clouds of smoke, just to "fit in".There are girls who are openly promiscuous and who actually carry alcohol around in their handbags.Having fun is not a crime but fun at the expense of one's morals and culture is NOT fun,it's just blindly aping the West without knowing where to toe the line.
For most dudes and dudettes, indulging in the above is a means of gaining so-called popularity and fame.At an age where hormones flow hither-skeeter and emotions are turbulent,it's no doubt difficult to be a judge of things, but one should know what's best for them and not just jump blindly into the well of temptaion cause of peer pressure. It's really pathetic the way the so-called hep crowd carry on.The worst part is that due to certain miscreants, people who come in for some innocent fun also get labeled as bad and at times, get caught during raids at discs.
There is nothing that can be really done cause no actual crime is being committed but one can't help wondering what we are headed for in the next decade or so...
